Live Like a Local in Gulf County

Gulf County is a destination where wildlife and people share the environment. It is where nature shapes the people, and the people shape nature. It is about balance and sustainability and caring for the things Mother Nature has provided to us.

Gulf County is a place without theme parks or large attractions. It is a place where you can sit and be in awe of what is around you—the flowing waters, the vivid sunsets, the sounds of dolphins splashing. It is a place of connection. Connecting with nature, connecting with people, and connecting with yourself.

When people visit Gulf County, we are encouraging them to become locals by association. What does it mean to be a local by association? It is the ownership of taking care of a place no matter the length of time that you spend at a destination, while also feeling welcomed, just like you are a local yourself. Visitors shouldn’t be too prideful to help take care of a place they’re visiting. Our locals have never been too pretentious to share a secret spot, a better way to throw a cast net or their favorite dish at a restaurant—the wonderful thing is, they love to share. Sharing is a way for locals to connect to the sacred place they adore daily, and to visitors who find themselves on our shores.

Locals by association can adore this destination like their own home by connecting with our community and nature. By taking care of the vacation homes they are staying in, removing trash from beaches and public spaces, being gracious to their neighbors, leaving no trace on our beaches, following maritime laws, and more, Gulf County can be protected and loved for generations to come.
