Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is a destination where no matter the season, you’ll find an adventure.

Situated along highway 55 between St. Louis and Memphis, this centrally located river town boasts unique restaurants, shopping and activities combined with exquisite views and historic treasures.

One of the breathtaking views into town is found at Trail of Tears State Park, where you can better understand a chapter in American history, then hike one of the several trails overlooking the “Mighty Mississippi.” You will stand in awe of the river’s vastness, twists and turns.

Cape Girardeau is proud to welcome visitors to its quaint downtown – the crowning jewel of the city. Park and leisurely stroll around the picturesque small-town square, appreciating the architecture of the many historic buildings and brand-new City Hall complete with the backdrop of the Mississippi River and 4,000-foot-long Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge.

If you are a history buff, you’ll enjoy Cape Girardeau’s over 45 historic landmarks and districts, including The Glenn House—a beautiful mansion dating back to 1883 and now a restored historic museum. Or, visit Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church located near the Mississippi River. Completed in 1853 in English Gothic Revival style—very few churches of this style exist in America today.

While in town, stop in the many boutiques and antique stores for special gifts and choose from a plethora of locally owned casual and fine dining restaurants, including several rooftop options that overlook the river. Cape Girardeau is also home to a full-service casino with table games, live-action poker tables and over 800 gaming machines.

In 1883, Mark Twain said Cape Girardeau is "situated on a hillside, and makes a handsome appearance." Cape Girardeau has much to offer, whether it’s for a weekend getaway or a stop along your road trip.
